Dear all, what is the right way to tag routes where is draisine traffic only. Just wondering why https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/33651736 is not shown in ORM.
Best, Eckhard
For those wondering, like me .... "draisine"= handcars, track cars, putt-putts,etc (to use American language). Little maintenance vehicles (most often but not necessarily 4 wheels). In the past strictly for railway service, though lately passengers and private users have been using them.

Especially in germany it's a whole branch of tourism these days. They even have solar powered electric ones. The tracks are usually former railway lines, not sure about the legal status of them, if they are all officially out of service or if they are just not used anymore (partly because there is no request and partly because neglect has rendered them unusable for locomotives).

Thanks, Christopher, bringing up this question. There are several disused railway tracks in Germany where these cars are used for fun rides. Most of them are driven by pedals but a few are powered by solar energy. Have a look at https://draisinentour.de/ or https://www.solardraisine-ueberwaldbahn.de/technik-strecke/
From a formal perspective it is a normal track so my expectation would be railway=tourism and draisine=yes.

Is draisine a track category or a usage?
In the US context the category of track would be "out of service". There aren't any tracks just dedicated to draisine, but there are some places where they frequently run. So similar as you might designate that a track carries passenger and freight trains you could also designate this.

I agree this is a usage. I know of atleast one bicycle operation that is also operating around Passanger service.
Thank You
Nathan
